Rockford 16s 17J, circa 1899
Model 2, Grade 575, Open Face
Lever Set, Stem Wind
Gold Filled Screw Back & Bezel
Case
Dial: This nice
looking original Rockford signed dial is in good shape. It features
black Roman numeral hour marks surrounded by a minute track with
red minute Arabic numerals at 5 minute intervals. There are some
minor blemishes, included a small edge chip near the 38 minute mark.
The blemishes are not visible unless the front bezel is removed.
The thin spade hands appear in excellent condition. The minute hand
appears to be replaced, as it is slightly more blue than the minute
and second hands.
Movement:
This beautifully damaskeened nickel movement is signed ROCKFORD
WATCH CO USA 17 JEWELS in black filled engraving. There are some
minor spots on the winding wheels, which is quite typical of watches
this age. This well running pocket watch has been professionally
serviced, and is keeping good time!
Case: This gold
filled case is in good working order. It does have some signs of
use, including some minimal wear to the brass. The back cover also
has a slight dent that is visible upon close inspection. The front
bezel and back cover thread on and off properly. The crown and bow
are functioning properly, and have lots of life left. This would
make a great every day carry, and would also make a nice addition
to a collection.
Crystal: The
clear glass crystal is in new condition!
