Hampden 18s 17J, circa 1895

"John C. Dueber Special", Series II, Hunting Case

Lever Set, Stem Wind

RARE Gold Filled Hunting Display Case

Dial:  Original Hampden porcelain dial is in superb shape. There might be a hair line crack visible under magnification on this signle sunk dial, but to the naked eye it appear to be as good as new! The black Roman numerals are surrounded by red Arabic 5 minute intervals. The moon style hands are also in excellent condition.

Movement:  This 17 Jewel high grade watch featured a Teske Patent micrometric regulator. The highly damaskeened movement is marked "John C. Dueber Special" and "Special Adjusted". This well running movement has just been professionally cleaned, oiled, and adjusted, and is keeping good time.

Case:  This gold filled case does have a few spot of brass showing through on the front lid, and a few spots of brass on the back lid. Also the case spring is a bit worn on the front lid, but it still opens with a little help. What makes this case special is the crystal over the movement in place of the cuvette (inner lid) that is usually there on hunter case watches. What a great way to show off the Special movement and see the works as the watch is running!

Crystals:  Both crystals appear to be clear glass and in good shape!
