Hampden 18s 15J, circa 1882
Model 2, "Dueber", Adjusted
Lever Set, Stem Wind
Nickel Dust Proof Swing Ring Case
Dial: This original
single sunk roman numeral dial is signed FRISCH BROS. SEATTLE.
This is a pretty rare private label, especially being from a West
Coast store. There are some hair lines visible near the outside
edge of the dial near the 2 and 3 hour marks. The thin blue spade
hands appear to be original, and are in great condition!
Movement: This nickel
damaskeened movement is marked DUEBER ADJUSTED. This was made before
the company moved to Ohio. It was one of the highest grade watches
Hampden made at the time. It features rose gold screw down jewel
settings, and a compensated balance. This well running watch has
been professionally cleaned and oiled, and is keeping good time!
Case: The nickel
alloy case is in great condition! There is some minor pocket wear
from normal use. The front bezel threads on and off properly, and
the hinge is in good working order as well. The swing out type cases
like this were marketed as dust proof by the case manufacturers.
They are more resistant to dust and particles than a hunting case.
These nickel alloy cases are so sturdy they can stand up to many
decades of use! The crown is in good shape and winds and sets the
watch properly. The round bow is nice and snug.
Crystal: It has
been fitted with a new old stock perfect clear glass crystal!
