Hamilton 16s 17J, circa 1904
Model 975
Pendant Set, Stem Wind
Gold Filled Hunting Case
Dial: Original single
sunk dial is signed HAMILTON. Overall, it shows real well. There
does not appear to be any blemishes visible with the bezel installed.
The thick cobalt blue rail road style hands appear to be replacements.
They appear in nearly new condition!
Movement: This nickel
damaskeened movement shows fairly well. Some of the black in the
engraving has been washed away from years of regular service. It
features a screw down jewel settings, and expansion balance, and
a patent regulator. It is marked HAMILTON WATCH CO, LANCASTER, PA.
It is also marked 17 JEWELS, ADJUSTED. This is a pretty early version
of the 975. This well running antique pocket watch has been professionally
cleaned and oiled, and is keeping good time!
Case: The gold
filled hunting case still has lots of life left. The hinges, spring
and latch still function correctly. The front lid opens a little
further than 90 degrees. All of the lids do open and close properly.
There are some signs of use, including a couple of spots of wear
to the brass base metal. There are also a few minor dings and scratches
here and there from a century of use! The bow is nice and snug,
and the crown has a lot of life left.
Crystal: This
glass crystal is in great condition!
