Elgin 18s 15J, circa 1886
"G. M. Wheeler", Grade 44
Pendant Set, Stem Wind
Nickel DUEBER Triple Hinged Case
Dial: The original Elgin dial
is marked ELGIN NAT'L WATCH CO. The porcelain dial is in pristine
condition with just the tiniest of an edge flake visible under heavy
magnification, invisible to the naked eye. It features black Roman
numerals surrounded by "RR Track" minute intervals. The
cobalt hands are also in great condition and show very well. This
really is a beauty!
Movement: This high grade nickel
plated movement features an expansion balance, screw down jewel
settings, and a patent micrometric regulator. It is signed "G.
M. Wheeler". It has recently been professionally cleaned and
oiled, and is keeping good time.
Case: This heavy 3 ounce nickel
case is marked DUEBER SILVERINE CANTON OHIO inside the back cover.
There are minor scratches and scuffs due to normal pocket wear on
this heavy duty case. The inside dust cover hinge is worn but still
functional. The back lid hinge and the bezel hinge are nice and
tight. The bow is tight and the crown shows little signs of use.
Crystal: Recently fitted with
a new old stock clear glass crystal to show off the excellent dial!!
